I just got home today from the Winston Salem Conclave. I truly enjoyed the
week. Well done, Gary Brierton and crew.
I was able to hitch a ride in my friend Graham Secord's lovely Reno Red BN2, a
car he completely restored himself, including all the mechanical, metal and
paint.
Anyway we had a completely fantastic trouble fee trip down and back from
Southern Ontario, 700 miles each way. The car ran smoothly and strong,
especially with the Lempert diff gear set, taking those Pennsylvania, West
Virginia and Carolina mountains with ease. There's something very special
about long distance open motoring in a 50 year old Healey, the wind and the
smooth strong exhaust note at your back while easing and guiding her through
the hills, and the general public always giving the car a good once over.
It was so great seeing many old friends and making many new ones.
Thank you all for making this last week a very special time. Reid Trummel is
absolutely right on when he says that a meet like this adds so much to the
ownership of the cars.
