Alan,

Actually it was was Sir William Lyons, head of Jaguar who squashed the Healey 
4000.
By the time the Healey 4000 was introduced, Jaguar had merged with BMC and 
the company became known as British Leyland. Lyons was affraid the 4000 would 
reduce sales of Jaguar's E Type.
