I have a noisy front bearing on my original type generator on my BT7. I've
sourced a replacement bearing, and the rivets that hold it captive in the
front plate.
My question is whether it requires a press to get the bearing off and then the
new one back onto the generator armature shaft. I can drill out and replace
the bearing and the rivets in the front plate but do not have a press. --Is
one required?
I could always take it off and start taking it apart to find out, but I'd like
to have it apart for as little time as possible. If it requires a press, I
figure I'll just drop the whole generator off at the local machine shop and
have them do it.
