LEDs for tail lights?

I've been off-list for a while - so I apologize if this has been chewed over
before.

For a long time there was a lot of activity about using halogen bulbs for
tail lights and where to get them. They were brighter, however ran a bit
hotter in the socket.

Has anyone done anything with clusters of light emitting diodes(LEDs)for
Healey tail lights and running lights?
