If you google/yahoo search "Mallory condensor failure"
(or equivalent) you'll find this is a common
occurrance. I went thru 1 every few mos until I
collected 5 duds! I complained to MOSS and they only
acknowledged they sell alot... Contacted a large
Mallory reseller and they hinted it was the weak link
in an otherwise fine bit of machinery. I contacted
Mallory and only got a shoulder shrug response so now
in my MGA with Mallory, I use a generic condensor.

Subject: Condenser problem
Last year I changed the distributor on my BJ8 to a
Mallory dual point. Since then I had the third
breakdown on the road due to a bad points
condenser. It begins with some short interrrupts
during cruising, then, usually after a stop at the
lights or during a passage of stop and go the car
begins to hickup on accelerating, firing backwards and
I have to look for a save place to stop, before the
engine completely dies...............
