Jonathan,
When I bought my BN1 it had a generator for a later Healey, along with the
later pulley. I don't know how long it had been run that way before I got
it. I ran it that way another 3,000 miles or so before I started the
restoration. I never had any problems but I'm sure running with the
different width pulley would not be good in the long term. Since the later
pulley shaft is a smaller diameter than the one on the BN1/2, I think you
would have to do a narrow belt conversion and swap out *all* of the pulleys.
At that point, you are probably into the same (or more) money than the cost
of a proper 100 generator or even an alternator.

Subject: generator compatibility
Can a generator for an AH 100-6 or 3000 be used on a 100-4? I can buy a
rebuilt generator from the local auto parts store for a 100-6 for about
$150. Any problems with pulley alignment or mounting points if you drop
it in a 100-4 ? Thanx Jonathan
