Whole lot of shaking going on!
On the BN1 there is a dampening bracket that goes between the block and the
exhaust downpipe that often is removed over the years. If it is in place it
helps. If you do not have one, I can send an email picture.
As an alternative on our BN2 (fitted with headers), we totally dampened
vibration by running a generic sway bar spacer with rubber isolators from
the three-holed forward-projecting frame member on the driver side over to
the nearest downpipe. The rubber bushings cushion the spacer bar on the
frame side, and you can braize a standard U-bolt muffler clamp to the other
end. I got the set for $10 from an auto parts store, and fashioned the
set-up in 30 minutes. The swaybar kit came with both rubber bushings and
nylon ones. The units look very much like larger versions of the front sway
bar vertical pieces on Healeys. I used the nylon on one side and rubber with
a washer in the inboard side to 'seat' the bushings into the one of the
holes in the frame projection. This modification was also helpful in keeping
the muffler's left side from getting too close to the rockers -- a possible
problem with after-market headers.
