Hey Guys.
This is well worth the effort!
Use an RTV silicone goo and clamp it up with nut, bolt and washers. Grease
the washers to stop the goo sticking. This is featured on a web page
somewhere ('Old Black & White'?). The biggest single advantage is that you
get to keep the brass inserts. They are 'unobtainium' now and virtually
indestructible, unlike the felt alternatives.

Did mine this way during my off season conversion of the BJ8 to RHD (do you
need to note that Steve?). The result is a perfect throttle linkage with
none of the lost movement that I had before fixing the bushes.

If Mike Lempert is lurking - pics of the beeootifull woodrim banjo can be
found at http://www.nfahc.co.uk/banjo.html

And public thanks to Pete Groh who came through with a glovebox lock to
replace the bodge job I had in the LHD lid.

Cheers folks - a great crowd.

Richard, I used 100% silicone sealant from a tube to replace whatever was
there before (there wasn't enough left of mine to tell what it was). Before
the sealant cured, I assembled the two bushings/housings on the shaft so
that each bushing would be properly aligned while the sealant was curing. I
figured the silicone could take all that heat behind the engine, and after 6
years or so, everything seems to be O.K.

Today I'm reassembling the accellerator pedal but have come to an impasse.
I
remember when disassembling the bronze bushes and housings that there was
some
kind of "gunk" between the cup and bush which with difficulty I removed.
The
parts list and catalogs refer to the "bush & housing assembly" which is
  naturally NA.

What do others use to fill this void for restoration? Was it a liquid
rubber
like material which cushions the bush in the cup? Thanks for any
direction
  you can offer?
