Nick,
I would make an angle iron adapter and use both front head bolt studs and both
rear head bolt studs, with the head on the engine. This way you can tighten
the head bolts down tight, do not need to torque, and not worry about twisting
or bending any of the rocker arm or cover bolts. A lifting bar is also made
with a lead screw that can move the lifting eye front to back to get the proper
lifting angle, a must for a one person engine replaacement. Cost is $25 to $80
depending on quality and store.

Hi guys
I have been trying (without success !) to find a pair of good strong engine
lifting eyes/brackets - HOWEVER, a Healey specialist I spoke to here in UK
strongly advises against using the rocker cover studs for engine lifting as
they will bend.
I guess slings are prob not a good idea either because of the (apparently)
steep angle of the engine as it comes out. So where is the best place(s) for
attaching lifting chains to the engine? (I will be doing this single handed
so it needs to be secure !)
cheers Nick
