FYI, below are two email replies from Universal Tire Co. to my questions last
year regarding the applicability of their 185R15 tire for big Healeys, and the
discrepancy in published diameter of the 185R15 tire.

Subject: Re: 185HR15 Tire discrepency?
Dear John,
The Universal 185R15 is a little shorter in height than the Dunlop.
Unlike the Dunlop specs, our Universal tire was not measured with precision,
while mounted on a specific rim. The measurement is more of an approximation.
The inflated diameter of the Universal would be more than the unmounted
diameterwe have listed.

John,
Why does your spec sheet on your website list the Universal Blackwall
185HR15 OD as 25.80", but you say Dunlop (manufacturer?) says it is 26.54?
Is OD and inflated diameter two different things? If so, what is OD if not
the inflated outside diameter?
Thanks for a reply.

Dear Mr Soderling
The aspect ratio of the 185HR15 tire is 80. I actually think this tire
may be a little on the large size for this car.
Here are some specs from Dunlop on this particular tire size
Inflated Diameter = 26.54"
Inflated Width = 7.40"
These specs are based on the tires mounted on a 5.5" rim
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Sincerely

Subject: 185HR15 Tire?
I'm contemplating purchasing a set of your 185HR15 tires for use on my
Austin Healey 3000. I now run 165R15 tires but would like a little more tire
contact patch. My question is, What is the Aspect Ratio of this tire? 70,75
or 80? I need this info to make sure the tire will fit in the Healey fender
well.
Thanks.
