Well well, try a BN1 ...
I bought my BN1 because I wanted to have the three speed in my car.
Call me a nutter, but I have to tell you it is way more fun to drive
than my BJ8, and the bizarre gearbox is half the fun. It took a good
week of driving the thing before I could tell whether I was in 1st or
reverse. Now that I have figured it out... I can shift the car better
and faster than any japo-box tranny ... as good as they may be. I
have three spare BN1 gearboxes in my garage so I will never want for
one if the one in my BN1 breaks!!!
That being said... go for the option that will cause you to drive the
car the most... if it's a supra tranny that gives you the joy, then go
for it. If you like shifting something that feels like a shifting a
combine tractor but it puts a massive smile on your face... then go
for the original box!!
I do have the original box on the BJ8... I keep it because the OD is fun for me.
Cheers,
Alan
