Hi Listers,
I just tried to install a Moss overdrive solenoid and found that a rubber
plunger boot just didn't work. The original didn't have a rubber boot, and
the new one appeared to be a situation where someone design this boot without
ever trying to assemble it. Good concept, bad execution.
The problem I encountered was that the rubber seal occupied the area of the
bore that would accurately locate the solenoid housing. This is not easy to
describe. Anyhow, the solenoid housing tried to compress this rubber boot and
depending on how it was tightened, the plunger could rub on the bore of the
solenoid. Not good.
I ended up pushing the boot below the housing so the solenoid would pilot
properly in the housing bore.
Anyone else have this problem?
