Gas tank sealing rubber

An easy question:  Is the square sealing rubber under the gas tank almost as
big as the tank or does it just extend around the small rectangular opening
in the floor of the trunk?   Mine was gone when I got my BN7.  The diagram
in the Moss catalog (part #682-400) looks like it is much bigger than the
small opening.
