Hi, Tom -

When I installed the Lempert gear set, I merely removed the pumpkin and sent
it to a shop in Florida recommended by Mike Lempert, along with the new gear
set. No additional parts were necessary. The shop said all the differential
bearings were in fine shape and did not need to be replaced. I had changed
the pinion oil seal a short time before due to a leak (not a difficult job,
and with the pumpkin installed). If the pinion seal needed to be replaced
again as a part of the Lempert installation, then the shop did it without my
supplying one. The shop also provided all of the necessary shims to mesh the
gears correctly.

You will need a differential-to-rear axle housing gasket and the usual gaskets
and seals for the rear axles when you reinstall them.

Good luck!

I am finally getting around to installing the Lempert gears (3.54) that I
purchased a few years ago from the first batch. I pulled the differential
assembly from the BJ8 yesterday and I am now ready to bring it to a
qualified shop to do the actual gear replacement. I have a few leads here
in
NJ, but I am still checking them out.
My question is that I seem to remember that someone posted, on the list a
few years ago, all the other parts necessary to complete the job properly.
I
was unable to find it in the archives. Perhaps I am mistaken and I am
remembering a discussion about the gears and other parts that need to be
replaced, but with no actual list. If anyone can refresh my memory, it will
  be appreciated.
  Thanks:
  Tom
