One good parrot story deserves another:
The minister was about to retire, and his flock wanted to purchase a parting
gift for him.
Much discussion ensued, and it was finally decided to purchase a pet. The
next step was to decide on what kind of pet; dogs and cats were considered of
course, but they really wanted something "special" for their beloved pastor.
While in the pet shop, one of the group noticed a parrot, with colored
ribbons tied to his legs, one red, the other blue. Naturally, this prompted a
question to the owner, whose reply was "pull one and see". Upon pulling the red
ribbon, the parrot responded by singing, quite passably, "Rock of Ages". This
amazed the committee, and they said, "What happens if you pull the other one?"
"Try it and see", said the shopkeeper. When the blue ribbon was pulled, the
parrot burst into song again, this time with "Nearer my God to Thee".
Needless to say the group KNEW they had found THE gift for the gentle
minister, and could not wait to present it.
Came the big occasion, and the bird was a huge hit, in fact the minister said
that he'd secretly wanted a parrot all his life. Naturally, the same
questions were asked about the ribbons, and the singing was repeated, with the
same
beautiful results.
All went wonderfully, until the ecstatic pastor pondered out loud as to what
would happen if both ribbons were pulled at the same time.
Without any hesitation, the bird responded: "I'd fall on my ass, stupid".
