Rear Bumper Bracket Replacements

Hi Listers,
 
Considering the removal of my rear bumper and replacing the current 
configuration with that of two Sprite-like overriders and possibly no rear 
bumper at all.  Can someone explain what owners in the 50's and 60's used to 
replace their stock bumper brackets with?  Any current sources available today?
