Does your Tri-carb have the other German Spec extras
as steering lock, Nope, I believe the steering box was replaced by PO many years
ago since it has a non-adjustable wheel (certificate says adj)
kilometer speedo, Nope, but I would believe this to be an easy conversion when
back in the US
1000C water temp gauge Nope, but I would expect that this would not have been
changed
and continental exhaust (2 mufflers)? Nope, but that doesn't mean that someone on
this side of the pond just modified it to fit the only exhaust sold in US at the
time.
If not, it could be your car was sold i.e. to an American army soldier, having
American specs.
There were only a handful cars built with German specs. As far as I know they
had indicators instead of the reflectors and the reflectors were fitted
separately like BJ8 reflectors. These cars had a different wiring loom with
additional wires for the rear indicator lights. They were delivered without the
square box relays at the inner lefthand front wing, as it was not needed.
I also have separate indicators in the rear only (note: they are combined in the
front) and no relay control box. When installing a wiring loom, Von's had to
send off to get a different one since mine was a German car. My certificate
indicates that it had all the features of the German car, but I have some doubts
about that after hearing from others. Also, I just don't see why someone would
go to the effort to make so many changes
