As I work along on this restoration, I have come upon the next question for
the wise ones: with the car stripped right down to the basic frame/chassis, I
am thinking that I will need to build some sort of support frame to hold the
body for both working on it and for transport to the various locations for the
work that will need to be done. I was thinking maybe a robust wood frame with
some sort of caster arrangement so that I can roll the whole thing around the
garage and onto a trailer - as needed. I might need to somehow attach/clamp
this frame to the frame of the car so that they stay together whilst being
moved around? Wouldn't want the whole thing to come crashing down. I guess I
was thinking wood for this structure as it is light, strong enough (?) and
easier for me to work with than angle iron. I've seen those heavy duty
furniture dollies in Harbor Freight or somewhere, and they look like they'd
easily hold the weight if I had one front and rear, so there's one thought.
Any advise and/or recommendations would be appreciated.
