"I can think of one other exception to the 'gloss black' rule - Looking at
the rear of a Healey, the flat vertical riveted 'lip' where the boot floor
joins the shroud, is painted flat black."
That's true, though my guide says it is brush painted flat black only on cars
of the lighter colors. And you can see why. On my C. Red car, before the lip
was painted, it was very prominent, along with the rivets, and looked
"unfinished" from the rear.
