Not sure I'd equate undercoating with a PO's desire to cover rust. May be the motivation, but maybe not. I fully coated mine with Schults material for several reasons---sound deadening and protection----even in the spring here in western Pa, there is salt residue on the roads. This Schults material is very hard and I have not had any loosening of it. And, you won't find any rust under the stuff that I intentionally covered. Actually, there is none that i know of.
