Scott,
I replaced mine about a week ago with the Australian unit from M*** and
yes it can be done with the engine in the car but it is not any fun and
it requires plenty of beer. Mine is the side shift so I removed the
tunnel which helped me see exactly what needed disconnected. I have
heard that the center shift has more room. I disconnected the engine
ground, main to starter, exhaust mounts at manifold, motor mounts, gas
line to carbs, throttle linkage, radiator, fan and air filter. No need
to disconnect the rear or any transmission mounts. I used a piece of
wood and jacked up from the oil pan. The stock unit does not require as
much height to remove or install because it is 2 pieces. The Australian
unit is one piece and you need to get it above the cross member right in
front to get the key lined up. Then comes the fun part, I heated the
unit per instructions and proceeded to drive it home with a rubber
mallet which is easier said than done, you do not have much room to
swing and it is still a tight fit. It is not easy but it can be done.

Subject: Bummer... Delaminated Crankshaft Pulley Damper

Hey folks,

Been driving the mashed 60 BN7 like crazy. What a great car. Today I
heard
something from the engine compartment that sounded like coke bottle
clanking
around. Noticed a ring spinning wildly around crankshaft pulley. Looks
like
Damper. I see that these are not avail. Moss sells an expensive
replacement.

Will I have to pull the motor to repair or just lift a bit?
Anyone have experience with this or suggestions on where and what to buy
for
replacement?

Cheers,
Scott
