Thanks to all for your replies. The replies answered questions and opened
up new ones. The word masochist came up in one e-mail, but there has to be
a little in all of us to tackle the job (no whips and chains please). I am
not starting out to turn my green-bomb into a concourse car, but I want to
do the best job I can do (I may finish with a concourse).
My goal is to keep my BJ8 as close to original as I can possibly get, and
that includes the fasteners. I did notice that there were nuts and bolts
available in the Moss Catalog for certain items and there probably are in
other catalogs. What do the professional restorers do? How do you
determine quality from junk? I will separate mine from the cans and bottle
and then determine if they are work plating. This brings up another
question:
Does anyone in the San Bernardino-Riverside area of Southern California know
of a good plating/chroming shop? Thanks again.
