David,
For your '62 BT7 Mk.2 the front suspension arm to frame pins, keyed washers,
castle nuts and cotter pins were usually zinc plated.
The shock bodies were usually bare aluminum with dull phosphate arms, though
exceptions with painted black bodies have been seen.
Source is my own observations over the years combined with those of the rest
of the National Concours Committee.
How's that for sticking my neck out there!<grin>
