The wires that you have with the grey fiber is a carbon wire. The carbon
wires can not be used on the caps with screw inside that hold the wires in
place. The screw will break down the carbon and the wire will fail. The
wires that you need are either a steel or copper core wire. Then you can
strip the end of the wire and thread it thru the hole in the washer, then
spread out the wires and install into cap using the nut to hold the wire in
place.
