Hi everyone--I need your help with this very bothersome problem. I searched
the archives with no success. The HIF4 carbs (#AUD 4450/4451) on my wife's
1976 MGB (twin carb conversion by the previous owner) persist in leaking from
the vent/overflow tubes AT IDLE ONLY. On switching on the key, the pump clicks
till the carbs are full and then stops--no leak. Once the car is started, fuel
spills out of the vent tubes until the car is revved up when it stops leaking
until the revs are back at idle. The leak is huge and not just a few drops. I
have replaced the needle/seat and set the float height. Checked over the rest
of the carb and can find nothing obviously amiss--even to the point of
dissassembling the choke device and finding nothing wrong. There is no leak
from around the choke, jet adjustment screw or fuel inlet. What am I missing?
Thanks for any help you may be able to give
