I agree with Steve that having tape on pipe joints would make disassemble
later easier, however the tape does not help with the sealing of the joint on
fuel or brake lines. The threads are the mechanical means to apply pressure to
the tubing tip against the fitting. Tape in that location may cause more
problems than it solves. In other words, if the joint leaks it is more likely
that
the tip to fitting interface is not correct. May need a little more tightening,
could have debris in the joint or could be a fit problem between the parts.
Regular pipe thread joints are generally tapered and the use of teflon tape
is very beneficial. Just my two cents.
