Reid,
Just fitted new 590-15 Dunlop RS5's on re-furbished original 48 spoke wheels
for my 56 100M and have been pleasantly surprised how good the ride is. I can
feel they will break away at the back earlier than the 185/70 radials on 5.5in
72 spoke rims that I have for road trips, but that is where the fun starts. I
think the visual effect of the RS5's is good and suits the car, plus they raise
the gearing slightly and add about 0.5in to the ground clearance compared to
the 185/70 radials.
You need to get the plastic sleeves from the tire/tube suppliers which increase
the valve stem diameter to match the hole in the rims so they do not move
around and chaff.
regards,
Peter Davis

Subject: Bias-Ply Tire Recommendations
Anyone out there running bias-ply tires on his/her big Healey? I'm
seriously considering a set of bias-ply tires for the 100/BN2 and would be
interested in recommendations (other than the recommendation, "Don't do
it!"). Thanks.
