Michael - I have 100M carbs on my early '53 100 with a stock camshaft. I will upgrade the cam later when the motor needs rebuilding. Car runs with more power that before and mileage is about the same. Go ahead and put them on your car. you don't need to change your timing (unless you put in the 100M cam). Can't say much about the distributor, although I think it is more or less balanced with the hotter 100M cam, so you might want to leave it off for now if the Mallory is working just fine.
