I like to take a piece of silver tape and tape the connector
into place. On the older Palm III's, you just need a little
piece of 2x2 tape. Place it to where it covers the back
side of the plug, and the back of the Palm over the battery
cover. This works even in rough service (like karts). You
can swing the palm around on the end of the cable and it
won't come off!

The battery pop-up is more annoying. I haven't been able to
find a "suppress message" call for the operating system, so
it appears the only real solution is to avoid letting the
Palm batteries get low.
