I like to use the peak of a lateral acceleration spike, especially a
short one such as a slalom cone or other "quick" manuever. My reasoning
here is that most of us will produce a very quick spike right at the
cone as we go by it, and tighten the steering right at the cone. Sure
there are exceptions to this, but in the majority of cases I think we
tend to be consistent about this. So I prefer to measure from a lateral
peak to a lateral peak.
Also, don't overlook using the Play button to help you analyze two runs.
Synchronize the runs with the synchronize speedbutton. Press <HOME> to
bring all the cars to the start line. Then press the play speedbutton
and watch the cars as they run through the course. In many cases you
can see visually when one car pulls dramatically ahead of the other.
