I have one of those cone shaped front suspension bumpers mounted above the 
center section. I trimmed it down a little to give more travel.  I placed a 
short length of leaf spring between the bumper and the floor to spread the load 
if contact is made.  I'm not sure it has made contact.  I changed the springs 
from 1.5" de-arch to 1" at the same time.  With the 1.5" de-arched springs, the 
axle was making contact with the floor, especially when I had a passenger.  The 
main problem was that the pinion flange was touching the tunnel.  You could 
probably use them where the axle tube might contact the body at the wheel well 
to floor seems too.
