<p>Here is a wild guess... The Triumph 6 cylinder flywheels use a shrink fit=
 ring gear. The gear reduction starters push the bendix towards the rear of t=
he engine, and if the ring gear was installed with the beveled teeth facing t=
he rear of the car, not the front, I can see how the ring gear might get pus=
hed back so far that the pinion gear can't reach it any more. Should be easy=
 to check looking into the bellhousing where the starter came out.&nbsp;</p>=

ngage flange need to fit and also the teeth distance and such stuff.</p>
