Mike and Phil.=C2=A0 What is the Toyota W-58 transmission?=C2=A0 Does it b=
olt right up to the TR block, or is an adapter plate required?=C2=A0 I have=
a Morgan and have a number of friends who have the Plus 4 model, which use=
d the TR-3/4 engine.=C2=A0 Most of them came with the Moss box, so folks ar=
e looking for a good 5-speed replacement.
I would not be surprised to learn that the W-58 is a bolt-up.=C2=A0 When I =
was racing, I used an electronic distributor out of a Nissan/Datsun B-210 (=
and a number of other applications).=C2=A0 It fit right into the TR-4 block=
, all I had to do was change the drive gear.=C2=A0 And then there's the Mia=
ta.=C2=A0 The Japanese copied a lot from the British.
Thanks.

A 3-4=E2=80=9D guide pin in one of the bell housing bolt holes on the engi=
ne block and a Phillips screwdriver in a starter motor mounting hole helps =
a lot. Also putting the transmission =C2=A0in gear so you can rotate the sp=
lines by turning the tail shaft helps as well. Works on both a W-58 and a T=
R gearbox. Also, when you mount the pressure plate make sure the clutch alig=
nment tool floats freely in the clutch.
