Greetings friends!
This may be of some interest for those looking for an edge in their racing =
program. I have been researching and designing my own cam for 30 years and =
even wrote my own cam design program to no avail. I have been using this pr=
ogram for the last 4 years and now its available to the public so cheap its=
disturbing considering the thousands of dollars I have spent on software a=
nd blowing through close to 50 trial and error cams, 30 of them where on ne=
w cam blanks.
This program has taken my engines to another level and will give you all th=
e info you need for designing new engines or working with the parts you hav=
e but the best part is it will give you an s96 file to send to the cam grin=
der or you can make a master for a manual cam grinder. The s96 lob design i=
s yours, you own it and is not what the expert on the other end of the phon=
e thinks you should have.
Its all math and no guesswork. Cam companies have giant data bases for comm=
on motors and can get pretty close based on dyno data collected over 6-7 de=
cades. For anything other than Ford and Chevy we are pretty much on our own=
.
Normally I would not share this kind of info but Rick Jones and I have beco=
me friends over the years and I just want to help him out, there is nothing=
in this for me. Below is the link to the software and it is stupid cheap a=
t the moment, I expect the price to increase shortly, its worth 5 times wha=
t its going for today.
I never enter into the cam conversations because even the best cam designer=
s and companies can't say with 100% certainty "this is exactly correct for =
you" so I refuse to get into a pissing contest with internet experts and bo=
y there is a lot of them out there.
This software will revolutionize cam design and the cam companies will most=
likely loose there minds when we show up at PRI this year. Rick and I will=
be sharing a booth with my steel synchro's and his software.=C2=A0
If the software is to much money or over your head, no worries I would be g=
lad to design a cam for a fee of course. ;-)=C2=A0

I'd think that cam would be too much for a street engine. I designed a mo=
re street friendly one with 270 degrees duration (226 at 0.050) and 0.320 l=
ift. A few guys bought them. Unfortunately, they were done CNC, so I never =
had a master made. I'd gladly share the numbers if someone wanted to make o=
ne. I think the stock TR4 cams are very good for a street motor.=20

The car used to have a sticker on one of the fenders inside the engine bay =
that read Isky so guessing that is the brand of Cam that is in it.=C2=A0 We=
=E2=80=99ll see when the engine gets broken down to confirm and see which o=
ne.=C2=A0 Is there a Cam that the hive mind of FOT would recommend for a Ro=
ad Car that would be preferred.=C2=A0 The current Cam gives the motor a nic=
e sound but as long as we=E2=80=99re there it makes sense to go =E2=80=9Cbe=
tter=E2=80=9D too.
