All-
I am a little behind on my emails but have been hard at work ironing out the
final details for this weekend. Plus it's always a wonder how work related
drama and chaos as drawn to race weekends like magnets making it that much more
challenging to try to play weekend warrior racer. But I digress...
First off I have had a few people ask me if they can bring anything for the
hospitality area. I should have thought of this sooner but I was thinking it
would be great if anyone that partakes in such libations would bring a sample
of their favorite local beer so that the selections would be a bit more
eclectic and representative of our group that just what I am bringing. As far
as food, Friday evening Beady Eye Racing will be putting on their wine and
cheese spread in the FOT paddock. VSCDA is also providing pizza in the
Blackhawk pavilion. Saturday night VSCDA is hosting a dinner at 6:30. Each
driver gets a ticket for that dinner but crew/guests needed tickets purchased
(this was in the event registration). Tickets can also be purchased at
registration.
Next - Registration: Registration opens at 4 p.m. on Thursday. There are 175
cars pre-registered for this event so there will be lines. Please be patient.
Nobody will be allowed through the gates to enter the paddock before that time.
I will have handouts at registration that are specifically for the FOT group
and will contain information pertinent only to us.
FOT Paddock: When you cross the track and enter the Paddock, the FOT paddock
will be to the left inside of turn 6A. There will be signs indicating this. I
along with some helpers will have green construction vests on to make us easier
to spot. We'll be running around the paddock so grab us if you have questions
on where or how to park. Also - my cell number is 847-452-2246. Call me
throughout the weekend if you need help. Paddock spaces are not marked off or
reserved. You can set up anywhere in the designated area. There are limited
power hookups available. They are all at the same spot which will be next to
the hospitality tent so be sure you have long extension cords if you are going
to try to grab one.
T Shirts: As was discussed on the list several weeks ago, every driver in the
Kastner Cup receives an Event T-Shirt from VSCDA as part of the entry which
features the Kastner Cup artwork. Drivers - you will get your shirt at
registration. All others that were ordered through me I will be picking up and
will need to separate / distribute. I will try to have those available by the
gathering Friday night.
General Schedule: You will receive final schedules at registration and I will
have all Triumph - related times posted in the FOT paddock. In general, here
is how the weekend will progress:

Finally - thanks!
I want to thank all of you making the trip to Blackhawk Farms. This is a great
little track that is perfect for small prod cars. More importantly it's home
to a group of us on FOT that cut our teeth at this track and we are all
excited to share it with you. I hope all of you have a successful weekend on
track but just as importantly I hope it's a memorable experience at the track
as well. Thanks too to those of you that donated some funds to help bring all
of this together. For a club that's not a club we seem to be pretty damn good
and making things happen. Thanks finally to Kas and Peggy for supporting a
group of busted knuckle racers that have rallied around what Kas made happen
back in an era of racing that I wish I had been around to experience. Through
vintage racing and groups like FOT, it seems time travel is possible even if
it's only for a spell.
Travel Safely Everyone!
