Hi,
FOT was well represented at the 2016 edition of the Thompson, CT Vintage Mo=
torsports Festival. Present were event co-chair Paul King (GT6), Mike Harmu=
th (Mk 1 Spitfire), Rick McCurdy and myself with my 63 TR6. Rick suffered a=
n axle problem during practice sessions on Thursday that ended his weekend.=
Mike and Paul seemed to run fine all weekend and I did fairly well conside=
ring that the car had no engine about two weeks prior to the event. My plan=
was to break the replacement piston rings in slowly and ramp my times up a=
s the parts wore in and limited the engine to under 6k RPMs. That plan seem=
s to have worked okay with the lap times dropping a few tenths every sessio=
n. I had some great dicing with a Series 2 Lotus 7 in all of my races, but =
once I abandoned the 6K redline, I got down into the 1:24's which was good =
for fast lap for the weekend for Group 2. All-in-all, it was a fun event an=
d I'll def. consider attending again in 2017. FOT support was also availabl=
e with Rob Dardano and Dennis Culligan crewing respsectively for myself and=
Mike H=20
For non-Triumph interests, there was a fairly good turnout of Alfa Romeos i=
ncluding a pre-war GP car and a post-war F1 car. The straight eight engines=
sound pretty amazing. There were probably 25 Alfas racing and there were s=
ome pretty mice street Alfas also present for the weekend.Thumbs up to FOT =
Paul King for his efforts as event co-chair!Regards,Bob Lang
