Larry, I'm running Z/S carbs from an earlier TR4, with the adjustments on
the bottom of the carbs, on my TR6; seem to work well. I had a minor problem
with the linkage and had to fabricate a few items. Also the linkage from the
accelerator pedal shaft is different: on the TR6 when you hit the gas, the
link to the carbs is pulled rearward on the standard carbs. On the ones I
use, the link has to be pushed forward. Solution: loosen the bolt on the arm
on the gas pedal linkage, push it downward until it's pointed almost
straight down and tighten. When you hit the gas now, the link pushes forward
and the carbs are opened. EZ!
When fabricating linkage, I clamp a 2x4 in my vise, about 3 feet long, bolt
the intake manifold to it, and bolt the carbs to the manifold. Then
fabricate the linkage. I told that to a guy at Pegasus one time and he said
that's how he does it!---Whatever works.
