Go to your local PPG or Dupont paint supplier and get some Aluma prep, Acid
etch primer and epoxy primer follow the insructions and you will be quite
pleased with the results. Powder coating is always an option, or if you don't
feel comfortable doing the painting yourself I have a close friend who owns a
Maaco shop and he will paint anything and do it well and at a reasonable
price. I'm sure that if you checked in your area you will find shops that
would do this for you. However, there is a pleasure in doing the job yourself.
Painting really is not a mystery and if the directions are followed with
todays materials the results are good. True Zinc Chromate primer hasn't been
legal in the U.S. in quite some time, it's really not good for you, but it did
make paint stick!

Hi,
Even though I got one of the original aluminium engine plates, I've yet to
install them, yet. However, Khartu has a New Year's Resolution to loose some
weight, so the plate will be installed in the next few weeks.
The question is: are folks painting these plates (or anodizing, etc.)?
I have to be honest, I don't think I've even noticed that folks have installed
these on the cars that I've looked at, so that tells me that "we" aren't
polishing them before installing...
If folks are painting, please share what you're using as a primer bacause I
have really crappy luck with getting paint to stick to aluminium.
regards,
rml
