I have no real idea why this design seems to be a dead end.
It was the flavor of the week in it's day, but in autocross, last years big
thing is this years boat dock bumper.
Personally, and speaking only about vintage cars, I'd be happy if all the
sanctioning bodies made the hardest possible compound Dunlop the only legal
tire for all production cars.
No more silly modern tires masquerading as "vintage" rubber, way less wear and
tear on components that were never designed for the cornering loads that they
are seeing now, lower lap times and greater safety margins, and in the end a
savings for competitors.
But I realize this will never happen.
