I don't know how intimidating Facebook or other social media are to anyone; I
for one have enough to do without following something like Facebook.

I should probably read more than a couple messages before jumping in all
gung-ho.
I know for sure you can set a Facebook group to private, and I'm pretty sure
you can also set it so people have to be "accepted" by the group's admin,
but still be viewable to the Facebook "public", which is how the FOT is set
up now.
Some might like the exclusivity of a "private" group, but others might find
it a turn off. New racers might find it a bit "intimidating"
