Thanks for the update on the outcome. That's really good information.

Subject: [Fot] A-Type Overdrive Slipping - Final Outcome

Last week I started a thread on a problem with a slipping overdrive and I
thought some may wonder how it worked out. One of the "long" springs was
installed on the inner, or shorter, land and was coil bound. That's only
one out of the four and that's all it took.

I checked a couple dozen springs that I had and found that it does not
matter what the free length is, whether it is LH or RH wound coils, or even
what the end color is, the only thing that really matters is the length when
fully compressed, or coil bound. All of my springs were either 3" or 2.5 "
when fully compressed. The 3" go on the outside and the 2.5" go on the
inside land. Go by that and you'll always be fine.

Thanks to all who offered suggestions and led me to the simple solution.

Mike
