I have encountered the "wrong" springs on a few occasions over the years. In
all cases has happened when o/d is built from bits.
As pointed out by others, there are various different "short & long" in the
family of A type O/d's, and the wrong ones on the inner will stop the clutch
travel.
Rover & Healey had all 8 springs on 1 part of the bridge, not stepped, so
you cant use the springs from them. The TR, 8-spring set, is quite
unusual, if not unique
