Ihave been using Mobil1 15-50 Full Synthetic in my autocrosser with
nocomplaints. Admittedly the engine doesn't see the use as much as youracers
but have seen a rev difference compared to the Valvolineblended. In the ten
years of use, yes its time for a freshening up, Ihave found my valve
clearances have not opened up and everything underthe rocker cover is clean
and tidy.
So with all this chatter about the zinc and phosphates needed for ourolder
flat tappet engines I looked up the Mobil 1 Oil website to seewhats up with my
chosen oil. The info there says the Full SyntheticMobil 1 has the additives
required for flat tappet cams. Their FullSynthetic Mobil 1 Racing Oil has
more of these additives for fullcompetition engines but at noticeably lower
viscosity ratings. If yougo to their site the full explanation about these
oils is there, also achart with all their oil products listed with detailed
specifics andcontents of each product.
Now to pick the winning lottery number to fund a complete engine teardown and
rebuild, maybe bigger pistons too !!
Wish you all luck,
Bob T
