This story brings back a favorite memory from the late 60's. My friends and
I were having an afternoon kegger at a remote location on the Sandy River
outside of Portland, OR. Three of the young ladies in attendance asked if I
would drive them the few miles into the closest gas station so they wouldn't
have to use the cover of the trees like the guys did. We all piled into my
1960 MGA for the short drive.

While I was waiting in the car for the girls to come out of the restroom, a
local man drove in and started talking with the gas station attendant. As
the first of the three (all good looking brunettes) got into the car with me
he glanced my way and sort of smiled. When the second one came out, he got
a great big grin on his face. When the third one joined us, I would have
needed a putty knife to scrape his jaw off the ground.

Frequented an eating establishment back in Bayfield Wisconsin that was a
daily breakfast hang out for local fisherman. Parked the car outside. As I
walked inside, I heard the last of the conversation about my car "So what
if its attracts women, it ain't got a back seat, so what good is it?"
Obviously, he would not have made that remark if I had Joe's "love seat".

Under the circumstances - with no love seat - I did the only thing
possible. I returned the next morning at the same time with my date for
the weekend knowing the same group of fisherman would be there. My date,
who
was a 5' 10" model, was very sporting about the whole situation. She could
not have played the situation any better from her choice of clothes to her
hanging on me as we walked to the door. As we entered the establishment, I
looked directly at the man who made the remark, at which point the other
fisherman at his table erupted with laughter.
