This past weekend Midwestern Council had their first race in 4 years
at the Milwaukee Mile. We had a great time racing at a track with so
much history. The Sports Car course uses most of the mile oval with a
very daunting .8 mile track in the infield. Jersey barriers are every
where because the infield portion is long and narrow; any off track
experience usually ends up in the barriers. I race Scott's #49 Blue
Spitfire. What a great car, so much fun to drive, handles like it is
on rails... Except the 2 times I went 4 wheels off in the hairpin, I
don't think I ever figured that corner out and not many found a fast
way through it either. Glade Snodgrass's red round tail Spitfire was
totaled in corner 1 coming off the oval when a car in front of him
dumped it's oil on the track. Glade's car slid into the Jersey
barriers left front corner first destroying the bonnet, frame and the
pushing the floor pan in. John Salisbury's Bugeye Sprite got forced
off the track and slid backwards into the barriers putting him out for
the rest of the season. I had a great weekend and cannot stop smiling.
Thanks MCSCC for a great weekend.
