I often pitted with Denny in the late 80s when I had a TR4 vintage racer.
His home track was Watkins; he lived close by.
He went fast in his TR4 - his biggest problem was that his feet were so big
he would hit two pedals at the same time.
He was a delightful guy. A friend was always with him who did a lot of the
wrenching. I can't remember his name - he drove a TVR. Denny's wife would
know him.
One year at Watkins I burned a hole in #4 piston. Denny drove home and
brought back a bucket of used pistons. While a friend scraped the aluminum
off the liner, I dug thru the bucket and chose the only piston that had all
3 rings. I tried to take rings off pistons but they were so brittle they
kept breaking. Never mind the size of the piston; it wasn't too big so I
put it in. Finished 6th on Sunday.
