Has anyone successfully tightened the thrust clearance? While checking
the dimensions for the crank gear / cam gear parallelism, it ocurred to
me that if the crank is fully forward at 0.006 clearance and the cam is
fully to the rear at 0.0075, there's a possibility that the crank gear
and cam gear will be out of plane by 0.0135. If it's so important
(according to the shop manual) to have the two gears dead nuts parallel,
what about tightening the the crank thrust clearance? At least that
should reduce the back and forth wear on the timing chain. OTOH, should
the parallelism be checked with crank and cam fully forward or fully
rearward? That seems most logical to me, but the manual makes no
mention of the procedure.

tnx
