I had a similar problem at 6000 rpm on my TR3. I had to soft mount the carbs
on the manifolds. I used a Weber soft mount kit and adapted it to my TR
manifold. The Weber one is basically an aluminum plate with a 1/2 O-ring on
each side. The carb mounting nuts also have a thick rubbery washer between
them and the carb body, so that there is some play there. Just get it tight
enough to seal, but not so tight that it is all solid.
Come to think of it I had a similar issue with my Spitfire, but I never had it
on a dyno and did not know better. I just made the jetting real rich and it
worked, but tended to foul plugs when going slow. Joe(B)

Folks: My 1296 pulls easily to 7000 rpm, slowing 90 hp on the chassis dyno
and Fuel/Air at 13.0. At 7,000 I abruptly lose 20 hp and the fuel/air goes to
17. I get the same affect on 1 1/2 and 1 1/4 SUs. Any ideas? Dale Oesterle
