I agree.
But unless I'm being stupider than usual, that would bring the rear flank of
the center main journal up against the _rear_ thrust washer(s); transferring
all the clearance to the front thrust washers. Right ?
However it's hard to say what a clutch explosion might do ... certainly if
something got wedged between the flywheel and block, it would force the
crank to the rear, possibly hard enough to ruin the front thrust washer.
