Chanute ... Falling out at 0330 every day in the middle of winter to march to
the chow hall a half mile away. Then reforming to march to the hanger about
two miles away. Sorry can't tell you about going up hill both ways because
there were no hills at Chanute that would even slightly deflect the damn wind.
Made it back to Chanute this past spring. Civilian now, most of the
buildings are vacant, the aircraft are gone, as are the manicured lawns. Sad
to see the condition it was in.
